Explore different styles of abstract painting, learn new painting techniques, and brush up on your art history - all in one class! Each week, explore the life and work of one of these eight important female abstract painters- Hilma af Klint, Agnes Martin, Yayoi Kusama, Janet Sobel, Joan Mitchell, Carmen Herrera and Sonia Delaunay.
Learn about their techniques, personal philosophies of artmaking, stylistic and compositional choices, use of color and line, and create a painting each week inspired by one of these powerhouse artists.
Whether you’re staining like Frankenthaler or dripping like Sobel, using hard edges like Herrera or repetition like Kusama, learning about the mysticism of af Klint or the manifesto of Delaunay, you will be sure to be inspired by these incredible women of art history.
Cost: $475 (all taxes and transactions fees included.)
Canvases/wooden panels required (sizes to be discussed first class). All other materials included- including Golden paints, gels, pastes, grounds, paper, and mixed media tools and supplies.
