Explore different styles of abstract painting, learn new painting techniques, and brush up on your art history - all in one workshop! Throughout the weekend, explore the life and work of four important female abstract painters- Hilma af Klint, mystic and mother of abstraction; Yayoi Kusama, queen of the polka dots; Joan Mitchell, abstract expressionist extraordinaire, and Helen Frankenthaler, queen of the stain and color field painting. Learn about their techniques, personal philosophies of artmaking, stylistic and compositional choices, use of color and line, and create four paintings inspired by each of these powerhouse artists. Whether you’re staining like Frankenthaler or learning about the mystical beginnings of af Klint’s abstract paintings, you will be sure to be inspired by these incredible women of art history who overcame all odds to create powerful work and leave lasting contributions in the art history world. 

Cost: $245 (all taxes and transactions fees included.)

Four medium-sized canvases/wooden panels required. All other materials included- including Golden paints, gels, pastes, grounds, paper, and mixed media tools and supplies.
